Specifically, if I was studying biology and there was a cultures class that touched on the same concepts it would offer a much larger spectrum of analysis. Unfortunately, such a class does not exist and I have other requirements I have to fill before I can think about taking unnecessary classes. In addition to those required classes I am not learning anything from them because they do not have any of my attention outside of the classroom. As far as my current education goes, I would like to squeeze other categories into my schedule, but with the amount of science and math courses I am going to have to take, it just does not seem plausible. The idea of consilience is definitely captivating; it is just not obtainable when there are so many required classes in my degree
