Communication is when people exchange meaning in order to reach an agreement in any way. There are a lot of ways that people communicate, using different mode of communications. Here in Africa, particularly in Zimbabwe, we respect our ancestors and some of our elders claim that they communicate with the dead and get direction on how to live. Although we exchange meaning and understand each other, there are a lot of factors that are involved for different people to perceive the meaning of the communicated aspect. The context of communication is one aspect that can make one present himself or herself to other and be able to communicate or be able to convey the message to others.

When you talk with someone and there is a reply, then we can say there is communication between two people and this is interpersonal communication. When you sit on dinner table with your spouse having dinner, you talk to each other face to face and this is most used communication context between two people. I would like to say that this type of communication is mostly used by very close people in the same location but with the help of telephones and other communication media, it can also be used by two people separated by distance. When this happens, it becomes mass communication because everyone in the country or all over the world can have a chance to read or listen to the message. As the number of audience increases, it then becomes mass because the message will be now for everyone who happens to come across it. Most companies uses this type of communication to market their products and it is sometimes called advertisement. This type of communication uses electronic devices such as televisions, radios internet and many more as it is impossible for to address the whole nation in a stadium or hall. I have witnessed the president of Zimbabwe giving a speech in state house but communicated via television. The message being intended for all Zimbabweans and it is not restricted to Zimbabweans only but anyone who can access the channel the world
