Households headed by immigrants with a high school education or less have high rates of welfare use and low income tax liability. Less educated Americans also have high rates of welfare use and low income tax liability. This is an indication that it is education levels, not being an immigrant that creates the costs. There is no better predictor of one 's income, tax payments, or use of public services in America than one 's education level. It is true that less educated illegal immigrants and American both have a negative effect on our economy but this irrelevant to the immigration issue. The point is to show that illegal immigrants are not good for our economy, not compare them to Americans. As a sovereign country, the United States has the right to pick immigrants with a higher education if that is what is good for the country. Immigration is supposed to benefit the country when properly enforced giving the United States the right to enforce laws against illegal immigration. The U.S. has its fair share of low educated, low income, high welfare use individuals but the U.S. would not benefit from adding to the problem by allowing less educated illegal immigrants to stay. Advocates of Amnesty claim doing analysis by household is not accurate because the children were American born. They argue that the costs for education, welfare, and other programs that benefit children should not be counted because these children are not immigrants. The number of illegal immigrant children add up being that 80 percent were born in the United States.
