Human Resource Management (HRM) The patterns that the competition uses in hiring and training their new employees vary greatly from UPS (Schmidt, 2015). The competition uses cross-training when initially bringing new employees on board. UPS uses a silo method that stagnates the employees by training them only for the position that they are hired for. Employees that wish to cross-train at UPS must perfect skills and timing in the job that they are placed, approach a supervisor and ask to be cross-trained. Often employees that are multi-talented are passed over for higher paying positions because the training is at the discretion of the management team . It was mentioned previously that the two strengths that UPS is noted for have been traced to hurting the company by the writer. Predictive indicators found in the behavioral intentions model demonstrate that a combination of attitudes that an employee receives can influence an individual’s reactions to any situation (Werner & DeSimone, 2012). Human Resource Development programs suggest that a company should focus on measuring an employee’s intention to use what they have learned in training and from peer mentoring (Werner & DeSimone, 2012).
