At the beginning of this story, Master took Sarah and Emma to a huge slave action. He also brought some other slaves to be sold, but promised not to sell Emma. While they were there he let Sarah and Emma look around while he he talked with the slave seller and other slave owners. One person that was looking to buy a slave was Mistress Henfield. She was looking for a woman slave that was very nice and good with children. That was the perfect description for Emma. So Mistress Henfield approached the slave seller. He told her about Emma, whom she thought she sounded perfect. But she wasn’t for sale. She believed that everything is for sale for the right price. So she approached Master asking him about Emma. When the news had spread, everyone was very sad. This later made Master regret his decision on selling Emma. When Emma was in the line for the slaves that had been sold, she saw someone from the plantation she was from. It was Joe. They were both surprised and happy to see each other.
