Carter who was pushing for this manuscript to be published because she would also too lose out on publicity and be seen in a undesirable light by the public for trying to publish “Go Set a Watchman” even though Lee’s family disagreed with Carters tactics and that Harper’s mental and physical condition made her unreliable during the process.
A possible solution to the problem of cancelling the publication of “Go Set a Watchman” would to put the original untouched copy of the manuscript online or another outlet so that anticipating fans of the original could at least see what idea Harper Lee had for a sequel. Her family would probably better receive this method because I wouldn’t be publishing for release and making profits, also no one would be editing/changing the original message of what Lee was trying to convey.
In conclusion, I believe that my decision is ethical based off my ideals and values and fully believe that it would be wrong to allow the publication of “Got Set a Watchman” as it would disrespect Harper Lee’s family as well as her legacy. Due to Lee’s diminished state I do no believe she would have wanted her lost manuscript to come to light as many credible sources have said.
