To define who I am is not quite a simple task, however I am sure that my background can explain a lot about the values, and morals I have developed along my twenty seven years of life. Then comes other questions to my mind, such as “am I only a name, profession, values, feelings, education, knowledge?” Do all those words define me?…

A great man by the name of Jack Lord once said “What you have, what you are - your looks, your personality, your way of thinking - is unique. We all have a story to tell, we are all unique. If someone were to describe me in three words I would have to say that most likely this person would say that I am intelligent, helpful, and creative. If asked the question, “Who are you?” , I would describe myself as being independent, determined, and somewhat introverted. I would attribute a large part of my self concept to how and where I was brought up. Living in Canada, a very individualistic culture, there is a big emphasis on independent self construal (Sanderson & Safdar, 2012, 3.6), but I believe this varies depending on where in Canada you live as well as your stage in life. Being from a very small town and attending a high school with less than 1000 students, having individuality and expressing yourself was highly encouraged, but to a certain degree.…
