College Admissions Essay: It's Hard To Think About Myself

My six year old self was very hyper and I loved doing what others did. Ignoring that all of the ideas at that age were coming from my parents and surroundings. The voices of becoming a lawyer or a teacher were the voices of others rather than mine. I would be anything and if possible do everything. For example, if my friend would say pilot I would say that's what i wanted to do as well. Never realizing that it would change when I started school.
As a six year old I started school, and I started learning the basics to help me grow in life. This, in its right time slowly helped me find what I’m truly interested in. For

Now knowing of all of my options, it was harder to find the right fit for me. With the help of teachers I would ask them to help me figure it out and I remember that one told me that in order to find my career I have to educate myself with what the world offers me. So, I took that advice and I started to volunteer and join clubs to find my calling in the world. This helped me learn what were my strengths and weaknesses.
Therefore, now being in high school I realized that my path is helping others and at the same time to be up and around. Taking classes such as biology and chemistry I have found a love for how combining things become greater ones. This, has opened my eyes to consider medicine. Becoming a senior this upcoming school year, I’m excited to take classes such as anatomy and health careers. Classes that will slowly get me to where I truly want to go. These classes for some sound challenging, but I’m ready for that

Dealing with a sudden case of epileptic seizure on first aid duty; the death of an elderly woman just a few hours after the morning ward round; witnessing electroconvulsive therapy; when I think of my experiences over the past few years I come to the realisation that there has been no single defining factor fuelling my desire for a career in medicine. Rather, my ambition has gradually become more and more cemented with each insight into the medical profession. These experiences have taught me many valuable lessons: the need to remain calm and logical in stressful situations, the importance of palliative care and the ever-evolving nature of medicine, and the ethical challenges of alternative yet controversial treatment. Organising a number of…

Just like any student, I often jumped back and forth on my decisions when it came to my future career as a student. Some days I wanted to be a veterinarian, some days I wanted to be a writer. I knew that I had to start looking at colleges and deciding a major.…

At eighteen years old, I have made many decisions in my life, carrying from what to wear in the morning to what classes I should take in high school in order to better prepare myself for college. Both of my older sisters pursued careers in the field of medicine, and it was expected that I would as well. Some kids are born knowing that they want to be neurosurgeons or kindergarten teachers, and some find their “calling” in high school after taking a government class, or watching a psychologist in action. It can be a process, but almost everyone I know has settled on one option, or at least one area, by the time they’ve reached their senior year of high school. I, on the other hand, meet the question “What do you want to do when you grow up?” with wide eyes and a mouth that opens and closes like a fish having a panic attack. My problem isn’t that I haven’t found my passion; it’s that I’ve found way too many of them.…
