(Limit your response to 250 words).

I hold Feinberg’s new curriculum, that concentrates heavily upon active learning and exposing students to the clinic as early as their first week in medical school, in high regard. From what I have read, your ideology and four-year curriculum match my personality and my effective learning styles quite closely. While working as a research technician in Dr. Lewis’ lab, I needed to learn unfamiliar concepts and various techniques quickly: I used strategies to help me recall, remember and perform new tasks efficiently.

Imagine a town that is small enough that people know each other very well, but also is big enough to keep meeting new people. My hometown of Cary, Illinois is a very inviting place where people are friendly to new members of the community and also keep close relationships with community members as well. I believe this small community has allowed me to really be myself and be confident that I will find people and friends who like me for who I am. My hometown of Cary Illinois has a population of about 17,965 as of this year (2017), which may seem very large or very small compared to how some people grew up. To me, however, this size town has allowed me flourish and be confident about myself.…

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine’s new curriculum resonates with my belief that the ultimate way to be an effective learner and successful physician is by integrating clinical experience from day one. Because I am a kinesthetic and visual learner, I acquire information more effectively when exposed to hands-on experiences. I find that my recall and problem solving skills are strengthened when I am capable of connecting the theoretical concepts with real-life applications. Also, early exposure to clinical practice will allow me to experience different specialties and it will help me discover whether my passion lies in teaching and research or clinical practice. One outstanding feature of FSM’s curriculum is its learning…

Notably, as a teenager I wrote a horrible academic essay in an easy English class in the 10th grade, and received a D. By way of contrast, as an adult I wrote an excellent research essay in an English class as a freshman in college, and received an A. Though, I made horrible mistakes on my personal essay as a teenager, I believe my writing has improved tremendously due to a research essay I wrote. For one thing, as a teenager in the 10th grade I wrote a horrible essay that received a non-passing grade, but now as an adult in college I proved I could write an excellent academic paper because I received an A on an essay that I wrote my freshman year of college. As a matter of fact, my teenage years were full of many horrible writing memories that I will never forget. Specifically, my worst writing memory as a teenager was when I did horrible in my 10th grade writing class. More importantly, this was when I wrote an essay based off my personal opinion, and received a D for my own personal opinion.…

Some of my key characteristics is my ability to be observant, my dependability, and my ability to remain calm in times of distress. As a person, I am sensitive to my environment and like to know what is going on at all times. Part of this has to do with my school and the small, tightknit community that thrives here. My experience in high school has taught me the importance of communication and teamwork. I find comfort in knowing that although we are competitive, we will never leave another classmate behind to fail.…

As a self-proclaimed outsider, I have always been deeply fascinated with others who were raised in a culture other than the nation of their birth. I believe my status as a Nigerian born immigrant who has spent majority of life in the U.S. makes me a third culture kid (individuals raised in cultures other than his or her parents or the nation of birth), and I have struggled with coming to terms with this status for some time. While struggling with my own identity, I often wonder how others who belong in this category perceive themselves. On a personal level, I know that my identity has been uniquely shaped by my upbringing in the U.S. and by Yoruba cultural customs instilled in me by my parents. While I embrace my status as a Yoruba-American,…

Throughout my academic career I struggled to find a sense of my own identity. In high school, and early in my college career, I wasn 't sure what I really wanted to pursue in life. I 'd always felt a pressure to succeed from my family, my community, and my peers. I 've never had a strong ethnic or cultural identity, my ancestors come from all over, but I 'm given the sole label “Caucasian”. When I was younger, I felt that it was a disadvantage not having a strong cultural or ethnic identity.…
