Heroes Within Us
In the good words of Bob Riley, “Hard times don't create heroes. It is during the hard times when the 'hero' within us is revealed.” What Bob Riley is attempting to say in his quote is that heroes will become fully revealed out of someone when the hard times come around and when people need help. The function of a hero is a person who stands up in a fight, sacrifices themselves for the greater good, they are brave,and care for people. A few examples of heroes in our world today are Martin Luther king Jr. and George Washington. Martin Luther King Jr. was a hero to people because he stood up for the rights of black people. Some of the rights that he stood up for was for black people be able to go to the same restaurant or store without having to be told to leave or from white people telling death threats to them. Martin Luther King wanted peace between both black and white and to be friends with them. Martin Luther King had boycotts made so that his people

George Washington gave his country freedom from the ruling of Great Britain who tried to take over America. George Washington had gone to a camp in England to see how settlers and Indians live and have him live like that. When he got back home, he would sleep on haystacks, take showers in the creek, and go hunting to get himself some food to be able to eat. George Washington went to the army and became a general and attacked many of Britain’s camps. Even when he lost the battle, he kept on fighting and in the end was winning. George Washington became the very first president and set rules that made him a very amazing first president. George Washington had made governments and made many rules that still affect us today. He made a rule to raise taxes and many people were going to boycott but in the end he had sent some of his soldiers to go and quell it the boycott from ever
