George Washington was the very first president of the United States. For being the first president, he did a good job overall. He served two terms as the president from 1789 until 1797. As a young man, he worked as a surveyor then he fought in the French and Indian war. George Washington was the commander in chief of the continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. The whiskey rebellion was a rebellion when certain people found out their liquor was going to be taxed. This is important because to this day not president has led the military into any war or any kind of fight. It is Significant that Washington did it because it shows he took responsibility of his people.
