“I have a very strict gun control policy: if there is a gun around, I want to be in control of it” (Clint Eastwood).
According to Huffington Post, the deadliest city in the country is Chicago. The endless debates about guns have recently been working in favor of gun proponents. Conversely, some believe that guns should be banned, because banning them will drop the violence rate. However, some civilians believe they are necessary to help stop crime. An interview done by Matt Vespa, a reporter in CNS News, with John Lott, an author in the Crime Prevention Research Center, showed that since 1950, every public mass shooting (with the exception of two) in the U.S. has occurred in a place where civilians are banned from carrying firearms (Vespa). In reality, Guns are vital to the protection of civilians, for example, the skills required to use a gun and the distance and range of motion to shoot a target make guns a valuable and a more effective defensive weapon than any other weapon, therefore ownership should not be restricted in the United States. People judge guns prematurely because they believe guns can only be used to hurt others, but guns have often helped in many situations, which have otherwise turned lethal.
Many people believe that by legalizing more types of guns, murder rates will rise; however, this is not the case. In some of the largest cities, the murder rates are already going up without restricting guns. Ellen Grace Jones from the Huffington post says, “…the…
