As children, our parents shape our ideas and opinions. When I was a child I thought Texas A&M was the only university my parents would let me attend based on the way they talked about it. I thought that they would not help pay for my college if I went anywhere else. It was not until I was in high school that I realized that Texas A&M was the only university I wanted to attend. I would like to study at Texas A&M to continue my family tradition, for the opportunities it offers after graduation and to be admitted to the dental school with a great education behind me.…

I decided to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) for a variety of reasons, including the location of its campus, because I was offered a full scholarship, and of course, because of the pharmacy program. Moreover, I believe that I am the ideal candidate for being a part of FAMU’s pharmacy program. To begin, FAMU is located in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that I had wanted to attend college in since I was in elementary school. Tallahassee is a city of containing and surrounded by many events and opportunities, so no matter your preferred “scene,” you are likely to be able to find something you do. Another upside to FAMU’s location is that it also places me very close to my mother and the rest of my maternal family, who I had previously not gotten to see almost since elementary school.…

In May of 2013 I was straight out of high school and lost. I did not know where to go or what to do once my senior year was over. Money has never been very prevalent in my family and college was not a viable option. Due to these circumstances I joined the military soon after graduating in order to gain hands on experience in a field, and acquire a means to enroll in higher education. George Mason appeals to me due to the emphasis on diversity and innovation.…

I was born and raised in Michigan. I grew up in an area known as Downriver, where I still reside today. My high school and the barn where I work/volunteer are both within 3 miles of my home, which is why moving to Michigan State University in East Lansing to join the other 50,000 undergraduate students was such a substantial change. I’ve always been adaptable and driven to succeed, so the adjustment to life in East Lansing was not a difficult one for me. Since I’ve been enrolled as a student at Michigan State University, I was granted the extraordinary opportunity to work at the Michigan State University Horse Teaching & Research Center while also being involved in both the Stock Seat Equestrian Team and the Horse Judging Team where I’ve been extremely successful.…

Helping others has always been a strong passion of mine. In my time, I hope to be able to reach out to as many people as I can and serve them in any way that I can. While attending Oklahoma City University, I plan to study Religion / Youth Ministry so that I may acquire the tools necessary to help youth grow in their everyday lives as well as their faith. After college, I plan to join the Peace Corps and spend time volunteering in a developing country to better the living conditions and education of those less fortunate. Currently, I enjoy teaching middle school aged kids on Sunday mornings as well as volunteering with the other youth and children's programs at my church to obtain a head start on reaching my goals of helping others.…

“ If you don’t get a full ride scholarship you cannot go to the college of your choice.” My mother has been telling me that since I was in middle school. I would think to myself how hard can it be to get a full ride. Now I’m a senior in high school with no full ride scholarship even though throughout high school I kept my grades up and I even played basketball in hope of a scout would come to my small charter school and discover my talent but that didn’t happen either.…

I’d like to start off by saying thank you for this opportunity not only to better my education but to improve my mentality. I am a self motivated, out going, dependable, honest young lady who isn’t afraid to be different and not follow the crowd. For as long as I can recall, I have been a creator. Before I even received my first essay prompts in school, as a child I already crafted stories to be transcribed by my father, or scribbled down by my own hands, or played out by toy dolls. I never even realized my natural inclination to writing until suddenly, around the third grade or so, my teachers and peers began noticing this peculiar aspect of myself. My essays were read aloud to the class, the teachers instructed me to assist my peers who struggled with grammar, the librarian gave me personal recommendations on which books were a satisfying read - sure enough, my aspiration to be a writer had been diagnosed.…

For every decision one makes they have a person or an event to accredit as to why they were influenced to make that decision. Previously, I watched shows like Greys Anatomy and envisioned myself saving one’s life as a doctor myself someday. Sometimes what we want in life though is not what we need. Personally paying my way through college is just the start of the many complexities I endure as a young adult. It’s mentally challenging to put aside the worry and stress of paying for my particular degree, all while wondering if I’ll even be able to have some saved up for my career after college. My major is Acting in the Bachelor of Fine Arts and that alone is quite a risky major within the college and out in the real world. It is a dream that guarantees less of a secure, consistent and long lasting career, but I truly love theatre with all my heart and those thoughts are the reason why I’m sharpening my skills at the University of Arizona. As of now, I am relying on multiple scholarships, some that support me for one school year in which regardless I am forever grateful and others that support me as long as I am reaccepted in to the acting program.…
