Throughout high school and college I have taken rigorous classes and achieved above a 3.5 grade point average. In high school I passed the Advanced Placement Calculus class, therefore giving me math credits for college. I participated in both football and basketball during high school advancing to the semifinal game my senior year of football. I was a two time All-State linebacker and conference defensive player of the year. I’m now a two year starter as a sophomore for the Lights in Havre, Montana. In season I’m unable to get a job due to the amount of time put into football. In the spring I’m able to work a few hours but not near enough to pay for college. This money helps pay for my books and extra food that I need aside from the Student Union building (SUB). Being an athlete has its benefits, such as a scholarship, but that doesn’t even pay for half of my expenses. The rest comes from other scholarships I receive and government loans that have to be taken out. Receiving this scholarship will help me financially now and in the future. I won’t have to take out as much for a loan and when these loans need paid off there won’t be as much to pay. I feel I deserve this scholarship because I work hard, get good grades, and I’m determined to succeed in life. Without time to get a job during school and being tight with money this scholarship will help me tremendously in prospering in life and moving one step closer to receiveing my
