The vast array of people that inhabit this earth is clearly displayed in military service and I believe George Mason University can be an extension of this is some

Howard University has always been my top school since I attended the college fair at my high school. From the moment I was presented with the opportunity to speak to one of the represents, where I just fall in love immediately. As children, our parents shape our ideas and opinions. When I was a child I thought Texas A&M was the only university my parents would let me attend based on the way they talked about it. I thought that they would not help pay for my college if I went anywhere else. It was not until I was in high school that I realized that Texas A&M was the only university I wanted to attend. I would like to study at Texas A&M to continue my family tradition, for the opportunities it offers after graduation and to be admitted to the dental school with a great education behind me.…

I decided to attend Florida A&M University (FAMU) for a variety of reasons, including the location of its campus, because I was offered a full scholarship, and of course, because of the pharmacy program. Moreover, I believe that I am the ideal candidate for being a part of FAMU’s pharmacy program. To begin, FAMU is located in Tallahassee, Florida, a city that I had wanted to attend college in since I was in elementary school. Tallahassee is a city of containing and surrounded by many events and opportunities, so no matter your preferred “scene,” you are likely to be able to find something you do. Another upside to FAMU’s location is that it also places me very close to my mother and the rest of my maternal family, who I had previously not gotten to see almost since elementary school.…

Prior to beginning the masters of occupational therapy program it was as if I was an ancient wanderer in the dark ages, eager to learn new ideas and discover new places not sure what the world would throw at me next. Over the next eight years I found myself at a series of personal crossroads one encounters during life’s journey. Not the crossroad where one sells their soul to the devil for some magical power. It was more of one of those forks in the road, a kin to the Robert Frost Poem, where one path leads to life A and the other leads to life B. Crossroads that impacted my future, shaped who I am and my character, influenced life changes, which led to a transition that will influence me and my family for generations to come. I come from…

Growing up as the only child, I can vividly recall some of the difficult times my parents and I (mostly my parents) had to endure while living in the Philippines. We lived a modest lifestyle in Manila while both my parents worked as teachers in the public school system. In the Philippines, there is no designated neighborhood park for each community district; rather there is a centralize park where my parents would take me to every two to three weeks. However, that suddenly stopped when our family's financial condition turned for the worst during the mid-1970s embargo on oil and gas. Prices for rent, goods, and services skyrocketed, and my parents began to scramble for money just to put food on the table and to find alternative ways to pay…

One of these issues is the financial aspect of attending college. For most veteran students, educational benefits provided through the GI Bill are not sufficient for veterans to attend college without having some type of employment. In addition, many veterans struggle to find a job with pay sufficient to support themselves and their families, adding to the strain while transitioning to college. Veteran students must balance education with job responsibilities as well as family roles and seek convenience and flexibility such as online and evening courses that can be completed part time. Finding balance when transitioning to college is important for all adult students, but can be especially stressful for veterans.…

I understand why I felt that way about school and never bothered pursuing a higher education after barely getting my diploma.
