Global Warming Solution Essay

There is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than at any point in the last 800,000 years. The increase in carbon dioxide was caused by burning fossil fuels, such as coal, to create electricity and to fuel cars. If coal burning continues at this current rate, the world will continue to heat up, leading to melting glaciers, rising sea levels, and more severe air pollution. One major solution to global warming is alternative energy sources, more specifically solar panels.
According to the National Resources Defense Council, or NRDC, global warming occurs when air pollutants, such as carbon dioxide, collect in the atmosphere. These air pollutants then absorb and trap solar radiation, instead of allowing it to escape into space. These pollutants have the potential to last for centuries, causing an increase in the overall temperature of the planet. Some of these pollutants include Sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), arsenic, lead, and mercury. and The NRDC also says that there are about two billion tons of CO2 created solely from coal burning to make electricity. Another 1.7 billion tons of CO2 is created from by the transportation sector, which includes things like fuel for cars.

Global warming leads to melting glaciers and rising sea levels. One of the main ways to stall the progress of global warming is to end the use of fossil fuels and to rely solely on alternative energy sources. Many countries, like China, Germany, and France, are beginning to reduce their carbon footprint by converting their main energy source from fossil fuels to renewable and alternative energy sources. Solar panels can be installed in many places like on roadways or on the roofs of houses. Although the amount of energy produced by solar panels may seem small or insignificant, it still diminishes the amount of fossil fuels used and therefore delays the impending detrimental effects of global
