Global Warming Reflection Paper

Throughout the semester the amount of information that has accumulated is pretty huge. The main aspects I wanted to focus on is the greenhouse effect aspects, carbon cycle, and what should be done about this thing called global warming. I believe that the issue of global warming is occurring but yet is not something that any of us should be intensely worrying about because it is a natural cycle of the earth. 650 million years ago the planet was a snowball and is referred to as an ice age. The albedo of earth was higher and no energy from the sun was being absorbed. This goes along with the fact that at this time there was nothing sitting in the atmosphere of earth except the particles necessary to keep earth the way it was. Earth was also …show more content…
Now, the first thing I wanted to bring up is the greenhouse effect. This is the process by which radiation from a planet 's atmosphere warms the planet 's surface to a temperature above what it would be in the absence of its atmosphere. Is global warming happening? Well, literally it is, but I think the earth goes through it because of the different components of the atmosphere. The atmosphere is composed of layers that include from the lowest to the highest, troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, and Thermosphere. Because of these layers greenhouse gases are trapped on earth, and when enough emissions build up in the atmosphere, things like aerosols start to create a cloud in the troposphere that is like a blanket that will either keep heat in or cause the sunrays to bounce off of the “blanket” creating a cooler atmosphere. Next, in the carbon cycle, carbon is exchanged, or "cycled" among Earth 's oceans, atmosphere, ecosystem, and geosphere. All living organisms are built of carbon compounds. It is the fundamental building block of life and an important component of many chemical processes. The carbon cycle has its name because in order for there to be any organism, it needs to be composed of …show more content…
The ocean is another example of what holds a lot of carbon dioxide emissions. In the past, scientists thought that the ocean would absorb all of the emissions. Now, since hot air rises, the carbon dioxide is more bound to be placed into the atmosphere. In fact, based on 50 years of direct observations of the atmosphere, it is clear that this trend continues and is accelerating. Now, what it all comes down to is one question, is Global warming even worth spending so much of our energy on? What I have explained is only the very beginning of the whole debate of the topic, but what I think is that the world was made to juggle a lot of problems in the way the atmosphere is composed. The earth can handle global warming and goes through various cycles of rejuvenation to make sure that it doesn’t get to an awful state. There will always be people saying that it is a real thing but I, personally, think it is happening but the world is going to correct itself. I am sure when the earth was made, it was made to be inhabitable by humans, so they could dwell. I am sure the creator was knowledgeable of the outcome and was sure something had to take care of the earth which are the natural effects and of

These gases go up into the atmosphere creating the greenhouse effect which is increasing the earth’s temperature. The way this works is carbon dioxide traps radiation in the earth causing a rise in temperature. Not only are we contributing to Climate change and Global Warming by driving our vehicles, but we are also contributing by burning coal in our factories, using aerosol paint, and cutting down trees in our forests or…

Since the 1900s, scientists have recorded droughts, wildfires, and melting polar ice caps as a result of the planet slowly heating up. Global warming can impact animals in the poles, farmers growing crops in a drought, or normal people in their everyday lives. There are places on earth that have an air quality index that is labeled as hazardous. This was first realized as a possible issue by a Swedish scientist named Svante Arrhenius (1859 - 1927). He figured out that fossil fuel combustion could eventually result in global warming.…

The role of greenhouse gasses is to keep the earth from becoming too cold for life. Greenhouse gases, which keep the earth from being inhabitable, have dangerously increased due to humans causing a global climate change. First of all, for anyone that does not know what climate change is, it is a change in the world’s climate. A lot of people think weather and climate…

Global Warming) with that said I truly believe that global warming is truly a “thing” that people of all ages, race and cultural backgrounds should take serious and not ignore. With that said as a whole we need to start taking it serious not only as a community, but as a nation because of the long-term effects that can untimely be the end to a great thing we call the United States of America and even possible the whole wide world. Global warming is…

How Human Activities Affect Global Warming Do human activities affect climate change, and as a result create global warming? Some scientists say no, but the majority of scientists say yes. They say human activities such as deforestation, using hydro-carbons, and burning fossil fuels, cause a lot of carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere changing the temperature of the climate, causing global warming. So now which group of scientists is correct?…

Almost 4.5 billion years ago, the Earth, newly formed, had possibly the hottest climate in the planet’s extensive past. Temperatures were scorching, enough to liquefy rocks. As radioactive elements located in Earth’s core decay, they generate heat and pressure shoving molten rock toward Earth’s surface. Along with bringing molten rock to the surface, volcanoes also released heat and emitted carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, initiating the greenhouse effect which leads on to global warming.…

CREDIBILITY : I did an assignment about two different thoughts between two environmentalist : Al Gore and Botkins. Al Gore, with the article “The time to act is now”, informed to the reader how bad global warming is and alerted them the need to react now . Botkins with the article “Global Warming Delusions” said that global warming is not a very serious problem and we don’t need to waste money on this problem . I have looked for much research to answer the question by myself as to whether global warming impacts seriously on our life or not and what we can do to protect our living environment. That’s why today I am very interested to share with you some basic information about global warming.…

Global warming since then generally define as a gradually increasing in temperature, which results in changing global climate permanently. Earth 's climate has been negatively influenced by many direct and indirect ways. Humans can severely damage the quality of climate. Most people are not aware that actions contribute to the decay of the Earth through time. Much research has been focused on the effects of global warming, as a direct result of the elevation of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which originally from global industrialization and modernization.…

With that being said I’ll begin by discussing what is causing global warming to take place right before our eyes. Body: I. To put it bluntly, the cause of global warming is human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels like oil, coal, and natural gas. a. These are the significant driving factors in global warming. According to Global Warming from Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change “Many human processes ranging from industry, transportation, power stations, agriculture, fossil fuel development and usage, to residential and commercial activities have variously led to the production of high amounts of greenhouse gases.”…

Global warming has been a widely talked about subject for many years. Although it has become such a controversial topic, it is indisputable that there has been a change in the climate in recent history and continues to do so. Over the past one hundred and thirty- five years that data has been collected, copious amounts of climatologists have piloted research and investigations that proves global warming is an ongoing threat to Earth as a result of humans negligence. Furthermore, there is a mounting body of evidence to prove that the cause behind global warming is man-made. Despite the growing evidence, a number of scientists still believe the current changes in the climate a part of a natural global cycle.…
