This burning is creating what is called the greenhouse effect. This is where gases cause the earth’s temperature to rise melting the ice on Earth. I agree with this information. There are hundreds of thousands of cars on the road. The majority produce fumes and carbon dioxide from their exhausts. These gases go up into the atmosphere creating the greenhouse effect which is increasing the earth’s temperature. The way this works is carbon dioxide traps radiation in the earth causing a rise in temperature. Not only are we contributing to Climate change and Global Warming by driving our vehicles, but we are also contributing by burning coal in our factories, using aerosol paint, and cutting down trees in our forests or …show more content…
That means our seas are rising and will continue to rise. Dimick’s article states that “Seas are rising because ice sheets in Greenland and parts of Antarctica, and glaciers in Alaska and elsewhere, are melting as global temperatures rise. Meltwater flows from continents into the oceans, just like water flowing into a bathtub.” (Dimick,2015). If the water continues to rise eventually there will be massive flooding. The increase in Earth’s Temperature isn’t the only thing this article talks about. It also discusses ocean acidification. Ocean acidification is where the ocean takes in carbon dioxide becoming more acidic. The rise in acidity is harming the shell fish. The article mentions that once again we are harming the ocean life by over fishing and other activities. There are a few other articles that talk about this too. How do we reduce the effects of Climate Change? By reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. Dimick’s article states that “Researchers project in a new study that we must leave 80 percent of the coal, 50 percent of the natural gas, and 30 percent of the oil in the ground to limit temperature increases.” (Dimick,2015). One way we can reduce carbon dioxide in the air is by reducing the number of rainforests we are cutting down. Trees help reduce carbon dioxide in the air. By cutting them down we are helping in the process of increasing the carbon dioxide in the
