Everyone has a gender; it is the thing that affects everything in our lives. It affects how we act, what we like and how we choose to look every day. Gender is the thing that describes the characteristics that a society or culture delineates as masculine or feminine .Today; gender is mostly defined based on the physical and genetic sexuality at birth, either male or female. However, somewhere amongst those two polar “black and white” areas, lies a gray portion in that spectrum. That unrecognized, unaccounted for distinction is regarded as transgender. There is at least one transgender person, whose self-gender identity is different from the assigned gender sex at birth, in each 100 people. According to Chaz Bono, (an American advocate, writer, musician and actor) “There 's a gender in your brain and a gender in your body. For 99 percent of people, those things are in alignment. For transgender people, they 're mismatched. That 's all it is. It 's not complicated, it 's not a neurosis. It 's a mix-up. It 's a birth defect, like a cleft palate. “Loss of identity also comes with life-threatening discriminations and inequities to them. Run-ins with the police, jails and imprisonment can be traumatizing and are often dangerous interactions and settings, especially for transgender people and anyone who is gender non-conforming.
