Even though the student may already have low self-esteem, depending on their background, teachers strive to affect the student’s self-esteem and abilities in a positive manner. Technology is one of the strongest ways to reach these economically disadvantaged students because it is so motivating (Boles). Teachers succeed in doing this by using a curriculum that assists teachers in planning and implementing Differentiated Instruction with help from technology.
The positives of technology can be found from statistics. After using technology as a vital part of the classroom for teaching, test scores of socioeconomically disadvantaged students increased drastically. They made gains from seventy-two to eighty-nine percent proficient and above in mathematics, and their reading scores increased from seventy-six percent to eighty-seven percent (Love 103).
