Sometimes gay parenting needs to be looked at in a more practical sense. Homosexuals are a very controversial subject in today’s world. Not even just homosexuals, but gay partnerships that want to or are parenting children. Gay parenting isn 't as effective as a traditional partnership. While it’s true that people can make their own decisions and shouldn’t be judged, men and women have different qualities that were created to compliment each other and a child raised in a gay partnership will be teased and verbally abused for being raised differently. While this is strongly true, there is more to adopting or choosing to raise a child that affects more than just the couple. There are children’s lives in consideration and the difference as to whether they will be raised stable enough or not. Sociologist Mark Regnerus, from The University of Texas, conducted a very thorough study on the difference between children raised in a heterosexual relationship and children raised in a homosexual relationship. “When compared with outcomes for children raised by an "intact biological family" (with a married, biological mother and father), the children of homosexuals did worse (or, in the case of their own sexual orientation, were more likely to deviate from the societal norm) on 77 out of 80 outcome measures” …show more content…
The differences in emotional, physical, and mental health among children raised in hetero and homosexual homes are immense. There is much more instability from children raised in homosexual homes. It goes to show that when a gay partnership decides to adopt or have children, it not only affects their lifestyle, but it affects the children’s lives and the way they develop mentally. Yes, people can live their lives the way they want to but more needs to be considered than just a couple 's desire to become parents. No one should be willing to sacrifice a child’s mental and emotional health for their own wants. In conclusion, homosexual couples’ parenting is not as effective or healthy for children. Men and women were created to have their own roles and responsibilities while still being able to support and help each other. Not only that, but child being raised in a gay partnership will be bullied for being raised differently.
