Have you ever wondered about the advancements of technology and how as technology progresses and gets better, will society do the opposite and get worse? Whether it's good or bad, technology is taking over every part of society. In the article “Meet Your iBrain” by Gary Small and GiGi Vorgan, they talk about how technology is “alternating our brain”, and how it is also changing the way “we feel and behave,” especially our social skills. In this paper, I will discuss two ways that technology affects society, both positively and negatively. They state how not only does technology affect your brain, but how it can affect our emotions as well. According to Small and Vorgan, the younger generation or the millennials also known as the “tech savvy generation”, experiences a techno brain burnout that is normally caused by “the continuous use of technology”. I know this happens to me when I am typing a paper for my english class, looking at the screen for long periods of time can sometimes make my mind go blank and I forget what it is I’m actually doing. This article shows the many new culture affair with modern technological advancements and how people can construct their own cultures. With the ability to listen to the music of their choosing with cell phones or iPods, and give themselves free rein to many social media outlets which through the use of computers, technology is letting many individuals create their own “personal culture”.
