Samuel Smith didn’t have normal childhood life. Instead of going outside to play with friends, he was in charge of providing food for his family by going out hunting because that is what his parent’s trained him to do at a young age. He soon mastered those skills and became a better hunter than his parents. This story takes place in 1776 during the American Revolution War in Pennsylvania where him and his parents lived. It was just another day in the forest but something didn’t seem right to Smith. The soundless forest, began to worry him. Smith noticed the smoke coming from their cabin so he scurried over. When he arrived there, there were some that were killed and burned to death. However, he realized that his parents wasn’t dead and that had been taken by the British soldiers.
