Land of the free, and home of the brave. This is the United States trademark statement, however many of the citizens in the states have forgotten the privilege they actually have. United States citizens have a Government and the Constitution. With these the citizens are able to control who they elect for leader and are given rights just for being a citizen. In the Constitution there is a Bill of Rights which include the first ten amendments. The only one that is important for this paper is the fourth. The fourth amendment states, “the right of the people to be secure...against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated…” (Constitution). This amendment 's main purpose is to protect against unreasonable searches and seizures done by the government and against searches that are irrational according to law. Succeeding the crisis of 9/11 the Fourth Amendment rights were infringed upon by having persons guilty until proven innocent and expanding surveillance systems. In the wake of 9/11 the legal court systems were reversed, everyone was guilty until proven innocent. This became a huge dispute over the right to a fair trial. Infact, many citizens questioned themselves and wondered how they were guilty before they had even committed a crime? One example on how the impacts of 9/11 infringed on our fourth amendment rights is that the, “United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, granted the Justice Department broad new powers to use wiretaps…
