Agricultural food production is one of the most important sources of sustenance for modern society and an integral part of life, but also a major source of anguish and distrust among present-day consumers. For my food path project, two agricultural foremen participated in this project by allowing the researcher to interview and observe them. Both individuals are agricultural foreman, Daniel allowed me to observe his eating practices, whereas, Omar was interviewed in order to get a deeper insight of our agricultural food production system and to gather the perspective of the people operating within it. The disconnect between those individuals who can make decisions via policies and regulations that directly impact how food is produced …show more content…
Technology would also allow farmers a way to grow crops safely and efficiently. “Drones flying over fields taking pictures would allow to identify where plants are getting less irrigation, where plants are more vulnerable to pest, and where the pest are attacking the crops” (Omar 2018, 10). The infrastructural design would also expose those living in urban areas to the food production system as Omar feels people in urban environments have lost touch with the food production system. It would also reduce the negative impact on our planet by using more environmentally friendly ways of keeping buildings cool by integrating agricultural plots and green products on skyscrapers would allow an ecologically friendly way of cooling buildings without the use of AC (Omar 2018, 16). Furthermore, for Omar, the automated machinery would reduce the number of workers needed to harvest crops as the individuals are a major source of pain to these agricultural foremen. According to Omar, “the hardest part of the job is dealing with people and managing the workers since they do not always listen or follow directions” (2018). Similarly, “automated machines might make it easier for food safety issues as people are vectors for disease and would allow businesses to improve and save money” (Omar 2018). For Omar, these forms of technology might make it easier to mend safety issues and automated machines may be more trustworthy than a human
