Fate fools the lovers Many people may not believe that fate is something that does not truthfully exist. People in our world want to use their own power to change the future. They do not believe that anything is meant to be happened. In William Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, fate is the crucial force that creates the plot. The story line is complicated and thrilling because of how fate affects two lovers. The reason tragedies happens in the play is also fate. Fate is the factor that Romeo and Juliet meet for the first time, doom to be in love and have the tragic ending that nobody can control. It is fate that the lovers will meet at the party, and the consequences are their deaths. It is sad that they started the tragedy in the first encounter. They are predetermined by their fate to meet, fall in love, and die. Even though it seems happy for the lovers to meet and fall in love, but they are just fooled by fate.
Secondly, due to the family feud, Romeo and Juliet are doomed to be in love. During the Elizabethan Era, teenagers from noble families should comply their parents. Being in love with the person from the enemy’s family is definitely not acceptable by either the Montagues or the Capulets. This is what fate did. Fate made two enemies into lovers, and the consequence of this forbidden love is death. After Juliet finds out that Romeo is from the Montague family, She still can’t stop loving him.

Juliet did not marry Romeo and she suicided after Romeo killed himself. The last time they meet is at Juliet’s grave. In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet are doomed to be in love, fate is the force that makes this tragic. Lastly, this tragic ending was not something that characters in the play could avoid or control. Friar Lawrence had an almost perfect plan to make Romeo and Juliet “happy ever after”, but Montague’s servant changes the plan unintentionally. Balthasar the servant told Romeo about what he saw in the funeral.
“I saw she laid low in her kindred’s vault, /And presently took post to tell it you.” (5.1.20-21)
Friar Lawrence plans to send the letter to Romeo, so he can know about the a fake death. But before Friar John arrives, Balthasar has already told Romeo the “death”. Balthasar has good intentions for Romeo to see Juliet. It ends up causing both Romeo and Juliet to die. This seems like an accident, but fate is the crucial force pulled everything to happen.
