There are a number of familial health issues that run on both of my parents ' sides of my family. On my mother 's side cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure, and diabetes seem to be common issues. On my dad 's side cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and gout are prevalent ( records on my dad 's side of the family only go up to my grandparents due to lack of clear records) My grandfather (dad 's side)also passed away from an aneurysm, but we are unsure as to whether or not if this was genetic or not and my grandmother (dad 's side) hadn 't been to a doctor since she was pregnant with her last child fifty years ago. Cardiovascular disease is prevalent on both sides of my family. Also known as heart disease it is various heart conditions that include diseased vessels, structural problems, and blood clots. Most cardiovascular diseases are related to a process called atherosclerosis (a condition that develops when a substance called plaque builds up in the walls of the arteries), which can lead to blood clots. If a blood clot occurs in the heart, a heart attack occurs, if a blood clot occurs in the brain an ischemic stroke occurs. Cardiovascular diseases are commonly treated with medication, surgery, and/ or addition of a defibrillator or pacemaker. risk factors associated with coronary heart disease and stroke include non-modifiable like family history, ethnicity and age, that cannot be changed, and modifiable risk…
