Vicki is a 42 year old African American woman, who was diagnosed with hypertension a month ago. Vicki went to her doctor’s appointment the medical assistant took her blood pressure. She was told by the medical assistant that it was high, and it was BP 158 over 98. The medical assistant told her she is next to see the doctor and that the doctor will repeat in taking her blood pressure. As she was called in to see the doctor, he repeated taking her vital signs and the doctor found that both of her systolic and diastolic are high and that she is at stage 1 for hypertension. Vicki married her high school sweetheart, his name is Robert and they have been married for 20 years. So as the both of them wait for the results the doctor, Vicki and Robert will find a plan that is going to work for them to work like a team to help Vicki lower her blood pressure (Hypertension) is a condition of high blood pressure and it comes from the arterial system. When it comes to patient like Vicki they have no idea that she had high blood pressure until they pay the doctor a visit. Vicki has been feeling lightheaded and having headaches that are happening more frequently, but she was not aware that these are signs of hypertension. She was also experiencing nose bleed, but found it to be odd and was unaware that this could have been a sign of having a raised blood pressure. There can be few people with high blood that may have shortness of breath, headaches, or nosebleeds, but these signs and symptoms usually don’t occur until high blood pressure has reach a severe or life threating stage. When going to the doctors when vitals have been taken and blood pressure reads a high number range the doctor will want to see the person more regular to monitor the patient high blood pressure. The doctor will also recommend the patient to see a cardiovascular specialist. It’s good to see a doctor more regularly there are also blood pressure machines in stores that measure the person blood pressure for free. Public blood pressure machines that in pharmacies can provide helpful information about the person blood pressure but they can have some limitations. Some of these machines accuracy can give you several factors but it all depends, on the correct cuff size and the proper use of the machines. But if the person needs information on using these machines the patient can ask their doctor for advice on using public blood pressure machines. Patients can improve their lifestyle by changes that can help them control and prevent high blood pressure, even if taking blood pressure medication.
