Family Diagnoses

The article I selected is called comparing the family environments of adolescents with conduct disorder or depression. I find this study very interesting because this is this field I work in which I completely love. The whole purpose of the article is to differentiate if family environments affect its diagnoses. In other words, can the environment an adolescent lives in affect its behaviors? I completely believe so. You can have different behavior and depression disorders and be treated by the best psychiatrist but your surrounding definitely affect how well you will get and also how fast.
Based on what I have learned throughout this course I believe that overall the article was very interesting and also very well written in my opinion. At

In the speech titled 'Family Medical Histories: A Proven Lifesaver' the author, Steven Harris, puts forward that the medical profession does not pay enough attention to the patient's family medical histories. He argues this lack of attention is the culprit in the misdiagnosis of hundreds of patients as most are hereditary diseases. Much truth lies in the argument posed by Harris because there have been genetic links found between generations of carriers of diseases. However, Harris overlooks other scenarios for the contraction of the diseases mentioned in the article.…

Editorial Feedback I had the opportunity to read my classmate Ana Ortiz’s autobiography whom I enjoyed learning more about. The part about her sister getting Dengue virus made the autobiography more interesting. There were enough details about her personal life to allow readers to get a general idea of who she is. I liked that Ana focused on being a part of the Latino community, but she should expand on it.…

My Family Medical History Growing up, I watched both my father and grandfather suffer the symptoms of asthma. They are both allergic to cats, both have severe allergies, and both use an inhaler. Thankfully, I have been fortunate and have never been diagnosed with asthma. According to the American Lung Association (2017), having a parent with asthma makes me three to six times more likely to develop asthma over the course of my life. In a recent study, researchers found that children who have been diagnosed with asthma were twice as likely to have at least one parent with the condition.…

College is stressful for the majority- managing your time, then balancing out tests, quizzes, extracurriculars, projects, etc. The word itself creates mixed emotions of the unknown. From early on, it’s viewed as an exciting chapter in life until you reach the age of decision making, identifying your necessities, filling out applications, writing admission essays, and anticipating the possible letter of acceptance or rejection. In 2016, the book, Where You Go Is Not Who You’ll Be by Frank Bruni, an American journalist, gives a new perspective on a brutal and deeply flawed competitive path. He wrote the book after constantly hearing frantic conversations over where to attend college.…
