A test was made testing people that were UTE Indians, Mexican Americans, and Caucasians to see which were more external or inner locus. The UTE Indians turned out to be the most external. While the Caucasians were the most inner locus. Leaving the Mexican Americans in-between the both groups. Rotter also said that socioeconomics could have to do with internal-external locus of control. He also said ones internal-external locus of control is pretty consistent when put in different situations. Rotter then went to hypotheses that those with inner locus of control rather than those of external locus of control were more likely to learn from situations to improve those in the future, be better at resisting manipulation from others, place larger worth on inner and accomplishment of …show more content…
Rotter tried to study how locus of control is connected to health concerns. Further study has been done based on Rotter hypothesis of parents of intern locus control students being more loving. It has been proven to be true moderately. Another subsequent research is that of Sims and Bauman who studied sociological and catastrophic implications. Some recent applications of this study have been done by thousands. To be more exact, a study by Stober done in 2003 studied self-pity while using Rotter’s theory. This study connected self-pity with locus of control. According to this study people with external locus of control mostly have the greatest self-pity because they believe their fate is in the hands of other people who are more powerful etc. Another application would be Journal of Psychology and Religion were in this study they said that the people who put their fate on God’s hands were of external locus of control. But due to these putting their faith in God (powerful) even though they scored external they weren’t the typical externals. These people wouldn’t really suffer from depression, the feeling of being powerless, low motivation for transformation, and low success. A study was also done comparing Russian and American college students seeing which were more inner or external locus of control. While, another study was studying how a person with inner or external locus of control would handle the diagnosis
