In the article titled “Face-Off on the playing Field,” Judith B. Stamper explorers the issue of female athletes competing on traditional boys’ sports teams. First, stamper explains how opponents argue that girls are not aggressive enough. They say that playing contact sports like football and wrestling put girls at risk of serious physical harm. The author also reports that some male athletes are uncomfortable having physical contact with girls. Some boys feel that it is wrong or ungentlemanly to be aggressive toward girls.…
Millions of parents and athletes across the country have encountered the issue of playing time when it comes to high school sports. The majority of them are disgruntled because they are oblivious to the fact that playing time is determined by ability. Not by the coach. The number of innings, playing time, minutes, games- It is called many different things, however, they all equate to how hard the athlete is willing to work towards the sport and whether they show it.…
This is not uncommon in sports today at all different levels of sports. Every year it seems like in college football or basketball a coach is on the hot seat for losing their job. This leaves coaches willing to do anything to win in all aspects of the game. In some cases cheating…
The purpose of the study is to explore the role that gender plays within the coach-athlete relationship, with the intention to provide valuable knowledge towards the creation of a successful coach-athlete relationship. The quality of the coach-athlete relationship is highly important as it can contribute to an athlete’s motivation, self-esteem and success within the sport (Jowett & Meek, 2000). It has been suggested that the coach-athlete relationship is one of the primary influences on an athlete (Jowett & Poczwardowski, 2007) and can therefore have a significant effect on an athlete’s quality of life (Greenleaf, Gould & Dieffenbach, 2001). With athletes and coaches working closely and spending lots of time together it has been suggested…
I angrily paced around my bedroom as even thinking about the coach made my pulse raise and blood boil. I always tell myself I should say something, tell the coach how I really feel. But every time one of my fellow team members tries to say something to the coach he shuts them down and walks away. He never listens, not even to the parents. Every single time someone’s mom or dad mentions or suggests something to the coach he always blames the player and punishes him.…
Summary In “Children Need to Play, Not Compete,” Jessica Statsky tells about the harm that sports cause and how much the children are expected to show up. They are asked to perform much higher than their physical capacity. This causes severe mental issues. It always remains there, the expectations their parents have from them and also the stress or pressure they get from the fellow teammates.…

Well, I think some can be because there have been many young athletes that say that their coaches would be very unkind to them. In the article "How Bully Coaching Affects Athletes." Athletes would claim coaches would call them names or even push and shove them. Some coaches push them too hard and may cause injuries. Also, they can be so mean that some players may be afraid of what the coach will do when they throw the ball this way or that way or if they keep the ball and keep going.…
One psychological problem for children who are playing in these sports is the possibility of being emotionally scarred by hurtful comments in the heat of the competition. For example, when a spectator passes an unkind comment about a player’s performance, it can cause discouragement and can affect that player’s performance. The same can happen if a couch or teammate spits an unencouraging comment relating to the child’s in-game performance. At these ages, children lack the maturity and stability to handle these types of comments and can experience…
Earlier today I was walking along my campus, and as I glanced over I saw a crowd of football players clashing into each other. As I walked closer I heard their coach diatribe, shouting at them to hit each other harder. This got me thinking, why wouldn’t the coach want them to tackle harder; what’s the worst the can happen, they never play again from an injury? The players don’t care at all, with their toughened calloused bodies and the fact that they are too compliant and obsequious to disobey their coach, as this will affect their playing time in games. This coach obviously had an acute brain; he knew that there are barely any injuries caused by football hits.…
There are many reasons why I coach the game the way I do. One reason I coach the way I do is because coaching is not only a job but a skill. I think all athletes deserve a leader as a coach than someone coaching for the money. Another reason I coach the way I do is to teach individuals about the game of basketball and responsibilities that he or she will face outside of the gym. Lastly, I want to share the knowledge and wonderful moments with great athletes, individuals, and teammates that learned the game of basketball from me.…
Youth sports have been a very popular recreation in America. It allows kids to have the chance to play a sport at a young age. However, many of the kids only play a single sport, and the types of adults that either spectate or coach youth sports are mainly split into two opposing sides. One half helps the kids to succeed in the sport they are playing and let the kid choose if they want to play that sport, and the other half force the child to play a sport that they may not like and gravitate towards the child’s every mistake like a moth to a flame. This can cause many problems for the child and can often be overwhelming.…
Coaches need help in self-awareness. Without the self-awareness, coaches can diminish in their coaching performance, and also have drastic mood swings. They will blame the players when a plan that they developed didn’t work, instead of thinking how can I change the plan to work for my players coaches will think I need to change my players to work for my plan. How do you know you are indeed using your God given gifts?…
This is commonly accepted and even encouraged by parents and adults. On the other hand, coaches for girls are much less likely to yell at them as girls are seen as more emotional and…
