Self-Awareness Of Coaches

Coaches need help in self-awareness. Without the self-awareness, coaches can diminish in their coaching performance, and also have drastic mood swings. They will blame the players when a plan that they developed didn’t work, instead of thinking how can I change the plan to work for my players coaches will think I need to change my players to work for my plan.

How do you know you are indeed using your God given gifts?

I fully believe that I am using God’s gifts because without him I wouldn’t be at Greenville College. I had no plan to even set foot in Illinois 6 years ago, but because I came here he is always opens and closes doors for me. I know I make bad choices but, he still loves me, and I enjoy my job most days that’s how I know that

If we are we live in quadrant I and are setting ourselves up for failure. I believe you have to take time to retreat and recharge, I do it by doing things I enjoy, they can include fishing, lifting, throwing, in some cases its just sitting on my couch reading. We are meant to live our lives for god, but we also have to enjoy the time we are living.

I do have a checklist in coaching. I want athletes to be functional strong, I want them to translate their strength and conditioning to the field of play but also to everyday life. I do this through several steps great technique is a must; it keeps athletes safe and gets them stronger faster. After technique come rules, altheas have to know what I expect and what they expect out of me, the biggest thing is constancy. Finally, fun I want athletes to have fun, without fun they will not perform to their best ability. You have to out weight the work with some fun, if that’s a game or even a day off, a small reward goes a long way.
