In this study, neurobiological and psychological factors are discussed as to why exercise is useful and how. There is evidence that exercise protects against depression and is an effective intervention and associated intervention for the treatment of mild to moderate depression. Exercise provides some health and psychological benefits and an effective treatment in complex mental health problems such as alcohol and drug rehabilitation. Moreover, most of the depressed patients are physically sedentary. This reveals that the reduced fitness levels are caused by physical inactivity and is a strong disagreement for incorporating physical fitness education into extensive treatment programs for depression.

It also shows associations that a physically active lifestyle may improve mental health, while having a mental health disorder may increase sedentary activity or result in excessive exercise behavior. The scale used to measure mental health can only screen for–not diagnose–mental health disorders. Respondents may have over- or under-estimated their overall physical activity. The separate effects of physical activity intensity and duration could not be examined. Research shows that exercise and physical activity can be used as therapeutic means for acute and chronic depression in the general population as well as in hypertensive and cardiovascular disease patients.
There is a major attention given to the effects of exercise and physical activity on depression and the excitement for the new discoveries in this area. Moreover, methodological limitations in existing research preclude a clear identification of the optimum exercise properties for treating depression, while the risks and cost effectiveness associated with relevant interventions remain unclear. However, association between physical activity and various mental health outcomes are undoubtedly complicated and duplex. Potential epidemiological studies declared clinical trials are needed to determine the minimal and optimal levels of physical activity associated with depression, emotional well-being, and other mental health outcomes. Findings from such studies could assist health care providers to develop effective treatment strategies that encourage and enable more day- to-day physical activity, which in turn minimizes consecutive health risks associated with decreased physical activity. A relationship between physical activity and anxiety disorders, mood disorders and mental well-being is well documented. This study will be a great pilot study for the future research within this
