Mateship is shown everywhere through you the movie but it firsts starts at the ‘Kimberly Gift’ where these two men first met each other. After the event the light horse brigade were asking for people to enlist for the war when these two fellas tried to sign up. But Archy was denied a place because one of his so-called ‘mates’ ratted him out for being under aged. When frank saw Archie they talked abou it at a local tea house about what happened including the race and the army, Archy still wants to join the army so that got on a train and headed on a train. The two characters are training with different brigades at this time. But one day they come together to do a training exercise but when they see each other instead of training they laugh with joy and mateship. After this incident Frank decides he wants to join the light horse with his best Archy. With a few discussions with officers and other important men the two men are shipped off the following morning at 0600 hrs together in the light horse, which is now the infantry. Through out this time together they showed some Aussie spirit and high feeling of mateship. Other examples of mateship in Egypt is the race between Archy and Frank to the pyramids or when Frank Snowy, Billy and Barney are wandering around the local town making fun of the British officers on there donkeys having the time of there
