Nurse Manager Inventory tool allow the leader to reflect on their strength and weakness thus enabling them to be more effective in their role. “This inventory allows the nurse manager to perform a self-evaluation that can be paired with the nurse manager’s supervisor’s assessment to create an individualized professional development plan” (AACN, 2008). In this document, the author discusses his strength and weaknesses on Personal and professional accountability, career planning, personal journey disciplines, and reflective practice reference behaviors/tenets. He further discuss how he intends to implement the knowledge and skills learnt on leadership and advocacy as well as his personal leadership growth.

As a medical –surgical nurse and charge nurse, I clearly understand my roles and responsibility and spare no effort to excellently meet each of them. I have great passion in my work and always seeking to grow in the profession. Now three months to completing Bachelors in nursing degree, I have a plan set out to master level with focus on nursing education. I enjoy mentoring new nurses and influencing practice among my colleagues and this keeps me on my toes looking for new body of knowledge. Challenges encountered includes limited training funding and staff opposed to continuous learning.
Personal Journey disciplines
I actively participate as a charge nurse, overseeing a team of 4 to 12 staff per shift. I have had a chance to apply management knowledge and skills in areas such as decision making, staff allocation, and conflict resolution among others. I seek feedback from my team and supervisor and this has shaped my practice too. My zeal to have all thing doe perfectly put me in conflict with my team but I seek to explain the rationale for the expected action and at times narrow down to individual staff to understand their perspective and offer individualized support.
