The service users discussed that they want nurses to be competent and trained but do not want over educated nurses as they are less desired to care and show compassion. (Griffiths, J et al, 2012) (Siviter, B. 2013)
What I have learned because of reading the article and chapter is that what a nurse suggests are good qualities for a student nurse are not necessarily the same qualities that service users are looking for. The overall result is that both nurses and service users would like more care, compassion and empathy within the health service and to know nurses are competent and skilled in their job role. (Griffiths, J et al, 2012) (Siviter, B. 2013) Taking this forward into the next three years of my training I will make sure that I make more time for the fundamentals and basics of nursing incorporating more empathy and caring into the work place and ensuring my skills are up to date and apply nursing theory in
