My immediate family consists my Mother, Father, younger Brother, and of myself. We appear to be Caucasian, the ethnicity of my family has never been one of great importance. There have been few conversations about the ethnic background of our family. The value of this knowledge would appear to be minute. If I was asked what my ethnicity is I would give a wishy washy answer and perhaps some German, Swedish, and Dutch. But, it is never talked about in my family. Yet, in other families they take great pride in their ethnicity and is a key part of what binds them together as a unit. In minorities, ethnicity is more intertwined within their culture, along with societal views, rather than some European families, such as my own. All the same, my parents are somewhat older than the norm. My Mother is fifty five and my dad is Fifty three. They had my brother and me in their mid-thirties or so, though becoming more common now, this was not typical for their time. However, instead of having older parents that do not want to do anything, it has had the opposite effect. My mother always says that I keep her young and up to date with the times of today’s trends. The same is true of my father with my brother. As a family, despite the slightly larger age gap, we still go out and try new things.
