Have you considered changing your diet? It’s easier said than done- an average college student may have difficulties think about it, taking on a new diet isn’t simple. Although commitment may seem like a hassle, it comes with benefits as well. Not only does a person become healthier but it changes their lifestyle completely. A person’s mood changes on a daily basis, and so does their energy level, which affects how they feel about themselves. The locavore diet is a completely new distinguished diet. The locavore diet consists of a person who is committed to eating food that is primarily local including, fruits, vegetables, and meats, which are all produced within a 100-mile radius of where they live. A Locavore diet is beneficial for that it will not only help people become more strong and energetic but, it is also safe for the environment.

The topic that is critically acclaimed the most is the “food-miles” remarks. A Food-Mile is the amount of mileage taken for the food to get to the consumer from the producer. Scientists believe that the locavore diet is unnecessary, and can actually be equally as harmful as being apart of the trending traditional diet. “Local production adds up to a lot more food-related carbon emissions than the 5 percent accounted for by the transportation of food. Greenhouse tomatoes grown in the United Kingdom, for example, have been shown to produce three times the greenhouse gas emissions as tomatoes imported from Spain” (Shizumu, 2012). There should be different ways to avoid the whole topic of food-miles, or find another more efficient to transport food that can lower the carbon footprint we are setting behind.
