One of the most misunderstood and important key in becoming a strong individual and/or leader to a company is the knowledge of emotional intelligence. A person should be able to recognize the difference in not only other’s emotions but also their own throughout their personal and business life. Emotional intelligence handles the thoughts, feelings, and actions towards a person’s emotions in concern situations. In this paper, there will be three main points about emotional intelligence that will be discussed, which will be self-awareness, self-management, and empathy. This will help you as the reader learn more about how to apply these key points in your daily life and at work.
Self-Awareness
Whether it is personal or business related, it is important to know how to handle different scenarios with different people no matter their age, gender, education, ect (McGraw Hill Companies, Inc., 2008). It is very important to understand self-awareness as well. Self-awareness is the process of paying attention to your emotions (McGraw Hill Companies, Inc., 2008, p. 98). There had been times where many people wake up in the morning just in a horrible mood, but does not know how to handle it unless they are aware of their emotions. Most of us have had these days, but it is important to recognize these feelings, and identity how this might affect others.
