Mental health problems are international challenges that had significant contribution in illness burden overall the entire world (Blake, 2012). Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) was one of common health problems and it was estimated to affect 121 million adults worldwide (World Health Organization, 2012). 29 years old male patients was treated on NCMH for severe depression, psychiatrists advised him and his family for ECT session to competent treatment process but they refused and just accept oral medications only even though the patient may incompliant to it. After two weeks of discharge, police force brought him to center as suicidal attempted person by falling from fifth floor. Only he said "this is all my fault, this is all my fault" at that moment, all psychiatrists decided for ECT urgently although there were no consent or family members because it just possible effective and available solution for him. The purpose of this paper is to write argumentative essay about using of ECT among depressive patients as ethical and legal issues. The current author supports using of ECT among depressive patients as somatic therapy. However, using of ECT stimulates many ethical and legal concerns with required clarifications, in other words, dose ECT using among patients produce beneficence, can it save patient autonomy and self determination, how come is non maleficence and is using of ECT legal among patients.
