Review of Literature The literature review of articles proves the validity of research by performing in- depth question about elderly contracting HIV is an ongoing issue. The older and elderly population is unaware that they can become in effected with HIV and AIDS (Eduardo, Lamb, Kandula, Howard, Muqisha, Kimanga, Kilama, Kilama, El-Sadr, &Elul, 2014). There is a clear understanding of how HIV and AIDS came into existing and start damaging people life. According to The Center of Disease Control and Prevention, the history of this virus began in West Africa. A type of chimpanzee was identified by scientists begin the source of HIV infection in humans. They believe that the chimpanzee version of the immunodeficiency virus (called simian immunodeficiency virus, or SIV) most likely was transmitted to humans and mutated into HIV when humans hunted these chimpanzees for meat and came into contact with their infected blood. Studies show that HIV may have jumped from apes to humans as far back as the late 1800s (CDC, 2014). Over decades, the virus slowly spread across Africa and later into other parts of the world.
