HIV is spread through blood, birth, using infected needles and sexually. The first stage of HIV is flu like symptoms. The person will experience a fever, muscle aches, cough and fatigue. Over time, as the infection persists your immune system will start to attack not just the virus but the normal tissues as well. In the later stages where HIV turns into AIDS, your body can develop tumors, infections and central nervous system symptoms. This is caused due to the lymphocyte count being 200 or lower in the body.
