Do you know that this innocent piece of tobacco lit between your index and middle finger is responsible for 1 in every 5 deaths? (Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention, 2012) While this cigarette might give you a sense of satisfaction at the moment, it is actually doing you more damage to your body’s future, lifestyle and those around you. Since your smoking habits are considered heavy and your health is of major concern, I have taken the time to explain the destructive effects of smoking on your body’s future, along with a possible treatment plan I wish you pursue to save yourself.
To start off with, the use of Tobacco possesses a huge threat to the cardiovascular system, giving rise to the numbers that make cardiovascular disease the single major cause of death in the United States. Chemicals in tobacco are known to prevent your body from repairing damaged places in the lining of arteries, leading to increased clotting and inflamed arteries (Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention, 2015). As such, blood streams become filled with scar tissues and plaque that buildup to clog and narrow arteries. In addition to these arterial restrictions on the heart, regular tobacco consumption leads to long-term increased blood pressure and heart rate, leading to a decreased heart output and more heart fatigue.
