Smoking cigarettes is the leading cause of death in the United States and it is very dangerous to people’s health. There are also many side effects to this action and the use over the years has led to many dangerous side effects such as cancer, halitosis, and heart disease. Nicotine and cigarettes have been around for a very long time though and in use since Native Americans grew tobacco. While there are people everyday trying to quit this habit, it has so many addictive factors, a lot of people struggle with it. Since smoking is so dangerous to your health, it amazes me that people still continue to smoke. One major part of my research was study the side of effects internally and externally. I found plenty of effects that smoking can cause and there was not anything really good. There many dangerous things that smoking a cigarette can do to your body it is even one of the leading causes for cancer and heart disease (CDC). Smoking cigarettes can also cause chronic disease and other diseases such as tuberculosis (CDC). One of the articles I read written by Salil K Das, a doctor, even said “Smoking has been shown to be linked with various neurological, cardiovascular, and pulmonary diseases” (Salil 1). Smoking the tradition cigarette can even cause strokes and possibly even blindness (CDC).
