In my experience, and what I would recommend for Nurse Witte, when there is a hiccup within an interdisciplinary team, utilizing interpersonal mode of communication, face-to-face communication, is therapeutic in reaching a common ground when there is conflicting goals or interests. This mode of communication allows information, thoughts and ideas to be exchanged through verbal and non-verbal messages opening the door for clarification and reflecting of information that was conveyed (Arnold & Boggs, 2015). Nurse Witte can structure a clear message to the team by utilizing a nursing care plan that is structured for a patient with a chronic illness. A nursing diagnosis erected from the patient care plan can serve as a guide to help Nurse Witte think critically of the aspects of the patient’s care while keeping a clear picture of what prioritizes and medical interventions are required to provide the right plan of care for this patient (Wagner, Austin & Von Korff, 1996).
