Paranormal phenomena is just one of the small portions of the many unexplained mysteries that has been discovered on our planet by those who are actively seeking it. The invariable nature of the paranormal often includes rare findings that simply cannot be explained, yet they exist in our mind and feeling of presence when we have had the good fortune of experiencing these unique observations. Misty, dense spiritual energy, sometimes referred to as ectoplasm, often bringing forth with it, a thick, slimy or strange foggy substance that a few ghosts have materialized from is one of those rare phenomenas that has been torn apart by researchers, scientists and even a few paranormal investigators, and is often considered nothing more than a hoax with no basis in fact.

Night time in the cemetery is chaotic. Ectoplasm is clearly evident as spirits lobby throughout the grounds in an effort to materialize. Strange odors, disembodied voices, footsteps, dark figures, and the feeling of being touched are all present realizations once you have committed yourself to touring the grounds. Many of the historic gravestones have been haphhazardly moved and are now leaning up against the church's exterior walls. Spectral representations of the non-living have been caught lurking near the headstones and a strong scent of sweet smelling roses can be detected at the exact moment of seeing the unexplained image. However, during a few dark nights when the moon is strangely silent, the nauseating smell of blood mixed with a tinge of sulfur can be detected. At this time it is probably best to exit the churchyard as quickly as your feet will carry you to the nearby

No one knows what the precise apparition the young girls saw that day was. How strange that it would be merely, “Young girls who met in small informal gatherings to discuss the future,” (Boyer Nissenbaum xx) who would send the newly colonized New England into a frenzy. They were like most girls of the time, concerned with questions of what occupations their husbands would have. In Salem village they, “Devised a primitive crystal ball— the white of a egg suspended in glass— and received a chilling answer: in the glass there floated a ‘specter in the likeness of a coffin,” (Boyer Nissenbaum xx). From that strange apparition sprung a terror in the young girls who would carry out strange acts, and convince their caretakers of possession.…

In the Mystery Cemetery excavation, all attributes and artifacts are greatly interconnected and useful in order to form logical inferences and observations regarding age, sex, and status. Quick assumptions from individual artifacts would be impossible seeing that one object leads to another, which then correlates to my conclusions for every grave site. The most important grave site that allows all of my observations to be plausible is Burial 10. Because of Burial 10, I am able to determine the sex and status of each burial. Differentiating between age is a matter of skeleton size and its correlation with the type of artifact each are buried with.…

This chapter from Paranormal America is dedicated to discussing what the paranormal is and how to define it. The authors begin the chapter by explaining the difficulty in naming the phenomenon of the paranormal. The list is seemingly endless and diverse, which includes the words such as: “supernatural,” “metaphysics,” “pseudoscience,” and “New Age” (Bader, Mencken, and Baker, pg. 20). The definitions of these words are not concrete and are often used interchangeably. People would make the argument that they are not the same, particularly the term “New Age.”…

As our class toured the rest of Arlington National Cemetery, the four of us who were selected dressed in nicer clothing, later to be held in a corridor. A volunteer sentinel for the tomb lined us up into a box, explained the basic guidelines and prepared us for the big moment. Shortly after, the room fell silent, indicating that the ceremony was about to begin. Thus, I became anxious, twiddle my thumbs when the sentinel nodded his head to notify that we were to proceed with the ceremony. The doors swung open to the bluest sky, I've ever seen.…

Ghost are an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image. A ghost is thought of as a disembodied soul, a soul of a dead person inhabiting the world. One case of ghosts was with a Greek philosopher Athenodoros Cananites, who saw a haunted house and started watching it at night since he was interested in what was going on. He said one night an old man, bound at the feet and hands with rattling chains, appeared to him and beckoned the scholar to follow him. The ghost then disappeared and Athenodoros had the spot where he vanished dug up, shackled bones were found and they had a proper re-burial and the haunting then ended (Krystek).…
