Ear Piercing Among Teens

Over the years, stretching an ear piercing has become widely popular among teens. The bigger that ear piercing is stretched the better it is. People find the whole idea of ear stretching to be gross and pointless. Ear stretching is not understood by older generations because of the terminology used when referring to ear stretching, the process of getting them to a specific size, and the whole idea of someone wanting to have giant holes in their ears.
Older generations cannot seem to wrap their head around the idea of how stretching an ear piercing has become so cool to teens. Teens majorly base their styles off of people they look up to or members of music groups they listen to. Stretching ear piercings has become a major fashion statement in recent years. Teens find it to be the cool thing to do because everyone else is doing it. It is something that has become even more popular in recent years than it may have been in people a few years older than teens of today.
People of older generations know ear stretching as big nasty holes that kids make in their ears. Some teens call ear stretching gauges when referring to the process. If kept uncleaned for a long period of time an atrocious smell may begin to come from the piercing. Dead skin cells, dried shampoo or soap, sweat and dirt build up around the jewelry and inside of the piercing. The combination of grime is known to some as “ear cheese” because of the resemblance the odor has to cheese. Rubbing alcohol and peroxide should never be used to clean the ear piercing. Peroxide will dry out the piercing and make a rip or blowout more likely to happen when the next stretching process takes
