As humanity continues to progress further as a species, knowledge of science and progress in the fields of medicine, psychiatry, and pharmacology will continuously impact the ability by which the pharmaceutical manufacturers can continue to provide sources of medicine. As global population will continue to rise yearly, more people in the future will require more medicine to provide for those who are medically prescribed. Though particular drugs are manufactured with certain psychoactive chemicals and have been made available by prescription under the United States Food and Drug Administration for some time now, all of these drugs have harder impacts on the people who use them, prescribed or non-prescribed, physically as well as mentally, and on practically all functions of the body. Stimulant drugs that are manufactured to treat Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) by pharmaceutical companies like Shire, contain the chemical Amphetamine which is a Schedule 2 Controlled Substance (1). Brand name medications containing Amphetamine include Adderall (Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine), Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine), and Desoyxn (Methamphetamine Hydrochloride) all of which are medications which have high addictive potentials resulting in possible side effects such suffer fatigue, headaches, irritability, and depression (4). Though Desoyxn is chemically related to Adderall, it’s effects are far greater as well.
