Today in the United States, many students are deciding to drop out of high school. Many factors can contribute to this. Sometimes students may quit to take care of their family or siblings. Teen pregnancy, drugs, or bullying can also contribute to dropping out, as well as, having disabilities, the family moving, or not parental interest. For whatever reason, dropping out might seem like a good idea at the time, but this decision will affect these students for the rest of their lives. This decision not only changes their life but everyone around them as well.
In America, more than 1.2 million students drop out of high school. However, there are many reasons why kids decide to do this. First, some people do not have a choice, because they have to take care of their family. In some cases, families are left without the husband and father, which often times leads to an older child having to provide for the now single mother and remaining children. Some kids do not even have parents, but they do have siblings to take care of. Another reason children drop out of school is not getting the proper education they need at a young age. Children who do not learn the essentials they need by the fourth grade have a seventy percent chance of dropping out of high school. In today’s time, it is so important that kids get the proper amount of education that will help them succeed in life. Also, teen pregnancy is starting to play a big role in dropouts.
