Don’t you wish you knew what people thought of you when they first heard your name and looked at you? This question might wonder around in your head, hesitating about what you think about your name, thinking it means something else then what you originally might have thought it really meant. Names can honestly tell someone about the other person’s life without them even knowing about them or anything they have done in the past, it’s just the way they say their name and the way you picture them inside your head. You don’t need to know anyone in order to treat them from simply knowing their name. The way society treats somebody is usually from the way the person presents himself, but telling someone a name and not seeing the person is something totally different. “At school they say my name funny as if the syllables were made out of tin and hurt the roof of your mouth.” (Cisneros P5). This text describes how someone can interrupt somebody else just by the way a person’s name sounds. You don’t need to see a face, their clothing, the way they act, their personality, or the way they talk. It is all from how someone can interpret somebody else’s name, names will be the background information for someone else to judge you off of. Never hate or disrespect your name, it is given to you for a reason, cherish it for your whole life.
